The short version
CADVERT runs entirely on your Mac. Your CAD files are never uploaded to us. We operate no server, we have no accounts, and we collect nothing about you or your work.
What we collect
Nothing. CADVERT has no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no accounts. We do not know who our users are or which files they open.
Your files
CAD files you open are processed on your own machine by the analysis engine built into the app. They are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
While a file is open, the app keeps its analysis and rendered previews in a cache inside the app’s own storage on your Mac, so reopening is fast. That cache is removed automatically after a period, and you can delete it at any time in Settings under Storage. Nothing in it leaves your Mac.
Artificial intelligence features
Asking questions about a part is optional. Which provider answers is your choice.
Apple Intelligence
The default where supported. It runs on your Mac: your question and the part summary are processed on device and are not sent to us, to Apple’s servers, or to anyone else.
OpenAI or Anthropic
Used only if you enter your own API key. In that case your question and a summary of the part’s geometry are sent directly from your Mac to that provider so they can answer. That data goes to them, not to us — we never see it and have no key of our own. Their handling of it is governed by their privacy policy and the terms of your account with them:
Your API key is stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac and is sent only to the provider it belongs to. We never receive it.
If you never enter a key and never use Apple Intelligence, the app makes no network requests at all beyond checking that its own engine has started, which happens entirely inside your Mac.
Purchases
CADVERT is sold through the Mac App Store. Apple handles payment and gives us anonymised sales figures. We do not receive your name, address or payment details.
Children
CADVERT is a professional engineering tool and is not directed at children. We collect no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date above. Because we collect no data, changes are likely to be clarifications rather than new collection.
